Since this is a blog about my travels, a little more history is in order for the reader to know of what I speak.
I became a Mason in 1998, when my best friend, Domingo Marin, showed me the way as we worked together for some 20 years with the phone company. He had been involved for several years, and the inner peace he derived from the fellowship of like-minded men was nirvana for him, and I could see the peace and tranquility that had enveloped him during a fairly hectic and toxic time in his life. Sadly, he was taken and succumbed to a brain annurism before he could see me placed at the helm of our Lodge in Kissimmee, Fl in 2002. It was a sad loss for me and our brothers.
I have been involved throughout my life with worthwhile community endeavors. One I am very proud of, is my time with Dreamflight, a UK charity when annually brings ill, afflicted, and worthy children from various points in the world to experience their "Holiday of a Lifetime!" at our local attractions. Each year Dreamflight charters a Boeing 747 from British Airways and takes 192 seriously ill and disabled children aged between 8-14yrs on their own "Holiday of a Lifetime!" to the theme parks of Florida.
It is important to bring some fun and joy into the lives of children who through various illnesss have experienced much pain, distress and disruption to their young lives and therefore might not otherwise ever have the opportunity to holiday as other children do.
